With Valentine's Day fast approaching, I knew I simply had to go out & get my hands on a few beauty treats to inspire a few ideas for the weekend. Having never really 'celebrated' Valentine's before {Having previously been single for nearly 20 years of my existence} I honestly didn't know what sort of look I wanted to go for; Pink & shimmery? Fresh & simple? Smoky & intense? I therefore, as any beauty obsessive would, went for a little of everything!

In my opinion, your nails & the colours you choose can make or break an outfit; Your nails, varnish & style can often say an awful lot about you & the trends you're interested in. For this particular haul, I went for two quite contrasting styles, a deep, glittery plum shade, & a 'barely there' pale nude. I chose these two shades for various reasons; They're both beautiful & feminine, perfect for Valentine's, but I also feel like they could compliment any make-up style, either by pairing down a strong, smokey look {the nude} or adding that extra bit of glamour to a simple face & outfit {the silk}, whilst still looking absolutely stunning.

In terms of lips, I chose two different products, one being a gloss, & one being a lipstick. The gloss was from Rimmel, a part of their 'Apocalips' range, in shade 'Celestial'. After swatching everything they had to offer, I was amazed to find this was my favourite; I'm very rarely a fan of pink anything, especially lip shades, as I find them to be a little bit too 'bubble gum' & twee for my liking. However, I found this one was particularly beautiful; It's almost a dusky, rose shade, & very wearable. The staying power on the back of my hand was phenomenal, & having tried it as soon as I got home, it was the same story for on my lips. The consistency, therefore, however, is quite tacky, but it's not so much so that it's off putting. It will certainly be interesting to see how this fairs up over the course of a day's wear!

The second of the lip products was a lipstick from Superdrug's own brand, B., in shade 'Rose Quartz'. Again, it's another pink, but, as with the gloss, it's a very wearable, paired down, dusky rose shade. I'll definitely be teaming this with a smoky eye, or, letting the lip do all the talking, a natural look with a strong brow ~ the options are endless!

For eyes, I got three products; Two shadow palettes & a mascara {I won't go into too much detail about the latter!}. The first of the palettes was Rimmel's 'Glam'Eyes HD Palette' in 'Pinkadilly Circus'. I think I was drawn to this because it was just that little bit different to the majority of palette's out there; There are five shades, all of which, when combined, allow you to create a smokey eye look. However, rather than the usual tans & browns you tend to see, the shades here are all bordering on plum & rose, yet they're so wearable. I think this will certainly help me create a perfect Valentine's Day look, & I'm definitely excited to see how the shades come together overall.

The second palette I chose was L'Oreal's 'La Palette Nude' in 'Beige'. I'd heard quite a bit about this palette in the past month or so, so I knew, once I spotted it, I definitely had to see what the hype was about! I will be doing a full review, including swatches, in a future post, so I'll include everything you need to know then, but all in all, it is a very gorgeous palette. It contains ten complimentary shades, some shimmer, some matte, which not only allow you to create the perfect bombshell smokey eye, but paired down, would also be suitable for an everyday work wear look; I believe every beauty fan needs a good palette in their makeup collection, & this could definitely be a firm favourite of mine!

The last item in my Valentine's collection was Bourjois' 'Little Round Pot' Blusher in 'Rose De Jaspe'. Buying this had to be the highlight of this shopping trip; I've always adored Bourjois & their beautiful range of nail varnishes, blushers & shadows, but I've never actually purchased anything from there, so when I had the chance to get my hands on one of their products for my Valentine's haul, I knew I had to go for something gorgeous. I think it speaks for itself! The shades are beautifully blendable, in such a range that there's something there to suit every skin tone. They look absolutely stunning, & I discovered that they also smell divine too. I know this is going to be a perfect finishing touch for my outfit come the weekend!

I do hope you all have a fantastic Valentine's Day, whether you're with a special someone or not this year {save money, eat chocolate & watch a movie, it's a win-win either way!}

Until next time, lovelies,

Alice xox
