The sudden burst of beautiful weather, topped with the influx of fresh new shades & styles seen on catwalks, has inspired me to go out & find a few treats for myself to ease myself into the new season! Spring has definitely sprung!
I've always loved spring makeup; It's always very much out with the old & in with the new, ditching the darker shades of winter to make way for the fresh & glowing tones of spring - think delicate florals & dewy finishes! When looking for the items I wanted in this particular haul, I took inspiration from the most recent catwalk shows from some of the big contenders in fashion, paying attention to not only the makeup looks, but the clothes which adorned the runways.
At Balmain, the look was very minimalistic, a simple foundation base with only the most subtle of features, outlined with a hint of colour; Think glowing skin, nude eyes & perfectly groomed brows. Baring this in mind, I chose a simple neutral palette, the Eyes Uncovered Nude Palette from Collection, & paired it with my China Doll Mineral Foundation from Lily Lolo {If you haven't heard of this brand, check it out online; They stock gorgeous mineral makeup at very purse friendly prices!}. I can't flaw this combination in the slightest. I've always adored the look of a flawless complexion, paired with simple eyes, as it's unbelievably wearable & achievable by anyone. Being a mineral foundation, the Lily Lolo powder leaves you with a very natural finish, & doesn't settle in pores or fine lines, unlike some heavier liquid foundations. The palette was a new discovery of mine after seeing a past review by the amazing Fleur De Force {I'd recommend giving her blog, a visit, she's definitely one of my favourites!}. Containing six very wearable nude shades, it's perfect for everyday, & at just £3.99 from Superdrug, it's an absolute steal!
If you're looking for something a little more peachy for the warmer months, make like Versace & pair glowing skin with tinted cheeks, rosy lips & fluttery lashes. I featured my Bourjois blusher in shade 95, 'Rose De Jaspe'. For me, this epitomises the pretty Spring trend; It's flirty, fresh & fun, perfect for the warmer seasons.
For those of you who aren't feeling quite like Spring has quite sprung, not to fear, & if you don't want to put away your darker deeper wintery shades just yet, you can still give a little nod to the Spring trend by giving your nails a little Spring TLC. Rimmel & Barry M were hot on the tails of the high end collections with a variety of beautiful pale & pastel shades, three of which I chose because I felt they finished off my collection perfectly.
This was my final purchase for this haul, & I thought it was simply the most perfect little palette for my Springtime collection; 'Spring Break', from MUA at Superdrug, contains twelve of the most beautiful shades, from pale creams & tans, to coppers & teals, right through to a dark plum, for those who prefer darker the darker shades. I adore MUA eyeshadows, & I have ever since I tried a couple of their individual shadows a few years back. The wear-ability & staying power is phenomenal, especially when paired with an eyeshadow primer, & they come in such a wide variety of shades, there's something for everyone. This palette caught my eye for two reasons; Firstly, that name! How could I not choose it for a Spring trend based haul? Secondly, the variety of shades really drew me in. In only twelve colours, there's such a vast difference in tones that there is possibility for an endless amount of looks, from everyday neutral through to something to wear on an evening out. It really is the perfect all-rounder, & at only £4, it's an absolute steal too!
I have something a little different coming for my next post; As some of you may know, I'm heading to Florida in the next week, so I'd love to get a haul or two from over there! It's super exciting, especially as I've never been before, so keep an eye out for an upcoming America post!
Until next time, lovelies,
Alice xox
