Bodyshop Party ~ Haul & Review
Hello everyone! I'm feeling very guilty knowing it's been far too long since I last posted on here, what with work & such, & finding the time for blogging just hasn't happened; However, enough with the excuses, I'm very excited to be back & have so many ideas for the coming months! This particular selection of products are so long overdue that it's actually embarrassing just how unorganised I've been, but now here's my Bodyshop haul & review, & I hope you enjoy!
So, a month or so ago, a certain fabulous lady named Annabelle suggested I hosted a Bodyshop party, as she'd recently become a representative & wanted to share everything she'd learnt with as many like minded & beauty-loving people as possible, so we picked a date & went for it. I'd always loved Bodyshop; It was one of the few places which I knew everyone had a little bit of a soft spot for, whether it be their beautiful range of makeup, or gorgeous selection of skincare, & I couldn't wait to experience some of what was to offer.
As a host, you receive a whole variety of perks & treats as a little thankyou for having your own party, including discounts, free gifts & money to spend depending on the amount of sales you've generated. With my goodies, I knew I wanted to go for something a little different to what I'd usually choose, so I tried to vary my purchases to cover as wide a variety of products as possible.
The first two items I bought were oils, pictured above, one being a cleansing oil, on the left, & a beautifying oil on the right. I've always had a bit of a love hate relationship with oils; I knew they could do wonders for dry skin & had a whole host of benefits, but as a teenager especially, I never thought putting oil on an already blemish prone skin would particularly help matters. However, as I've used these, I've been amazed at the results. The 'Camomile Silky Cleansing Oil' promises to lift away impurities & remove water proof make-up without stripping the skin of it's moisture, as some harsher cleansers can do. I used a small amount & massaged it directly onto dry skin, then added water to emulsify & rinsed off. Once I'd done, I was amazed at how soft & silky my skin felt. You have to ensure that you rinse your skin thoroughly, as any residue to clog pores & lead to breakouts, but other than that, this is a sure winner! {Plus is smells great too!}
The second of the two oils I bought was the 'Cocoa Butter Beautifying Oil', a dry oil for body, face & hair. I have to say, this product is an absolute god send, & can be used to anything, from quenching thirsty locks to moisturising dry cuticles; I adore it. I took it with me to Spain earlier this year & it was particularly fantastic for adding a healthy glow to my skin, especially for evenings out. I honestly can't fault it, & due to the consistency, you only need the smallest amount, meaning I imagine this little 100ml bottle is going to last me well into the coming months, especially with my skin needing a little more attention as the temperature drops. If you're looking for an all-rounder oil, I'd say this is a fantastic option!
The next product I bought was the 'Satsuma Body Polish' which Annabelle had pointed out as one of her absolute favourites before the party had even begun. I think rich Satsuma has to be one of my all-time favourite scents when it comes to body care, so I knew straight away that this was going to be something I had to try! It comes in a 200ml bottle, & so this particular one is still going, & should last me another good few month or so. It contains the usual grains to help buff away dry skin, but it's also full of tiny pieces of Satsuma peel too, which not only add an extra burst of fresh scent, but add to the exfoliating properties, leaving your skin both smelling beaut & feeling soft. This is a definite winner if you suffer from dry kin, especially in autumn & winter, & in such a big bottle, it'll last you well into the new year too!
The next two products I bought were the two pictured above, the 'Mango Body Whip'& 'Pink Grapefruit Body Puree'. I've always loved the Bodyshop Body Butters, but I've also found they can be quite messy in terms of application & the time it takes for them to fully soak in, so I thought I'd pick something else, just a little bit different, but which I knew would have the same deeply moisturising properties. The first of the two, the Body Whip has a light, moussy texture which blends into the skin straight away, meaning you're not having to wait around to be able to get dressed! I picked the Body Whip in Mango, as I'd had the Body Butter in the same scent & adored it. In comparison to the Butter, I'd say it hasn't quite topped it in the moisturising stakes, but if you're wanting something to give you a quick hit of moisture & leave your skin smelling absolutely divine, this is a no-brainer!
The Body Puree is thicker in texture, & quite gel like, meaning it takes a touch longer to completely blend in, so perfect for an evening when you have a little more time to spare. However, as with the Whip, it leaves your skin smelling gorgeous, & also extremely soft to the touch, so if you're in need of a real pamper, I'd say this is the product to pick out of the two! Again, I picked a fresh fruity scent {are you noticing a trend?} as Bodyshop are just renowned for their sweet offerings, but if they aren't really the flavours for you, as with the Body Butters, there are a whole host of other choices to choose from!
Nearly there! The last three products I bought were these pictured above, two makeup & one more bodycare. Now, as many of you may know, especially if you're a trend follower like myself, that highlighting, strobing & contouring are having a major moment. If you want to add dimension & definition to your face without overly applying products, then the 'Lightening Touch' is perfect for adding focus to certain features. Packaged in a beautiful little tube, it has a twist base so you can deposit the perfect amount of product to then apply to the areas of your face where light naturally hits, such as the cupids bow, the arch of the eyebrows & down the bridge of the nose. Once blended, it adds a perfectly subtle glow that the Jenners would be proud of!
The second of the two was the 'Honey Bronze Face Gel', perfect for creating contours & dimension. I was initially very wary of this product simply because of how dark it was in the bottle. However, I discovered that the gel-like substance blends perfectly to create the most natural looking tan; You only need the tiniest amount to add a subtle hint of colour. Again, when I was away this year, I used the tiniest dab along my hairline & under my cheekbones to create that definition.
If you're not ready to pack away the summer just yet,these two products are a saviour!
The final product was the 'Peppermint Smoothing Foot Scrub', which, before I even go into the product itself, I have to say smells absolutely beautiful, an immediate pick me up! The consistency is souffle, very light & spongy, & it contains hundreds of tiny exfoliating beads of volcanic rock designed to remove dry skin & leave your toes feeling pampered to perfection! Not only is it great for Summer, when open toed sandals & heels are the footwear of choice, but also for Winter, when your skin an often be in need of a little extra TLC; This product really is perfect for all year round!
I hope you've enjoyed this post, despite it being ridiculously late {I promise to be better in future!}, & it's opened your eyes a little more to just what Bodyshop has to offer!
Until next time,
Alice xox
